Multi Award winning & Arts Council England funded company MANA DANCE is a female contemporary fusion dance duo. MANA specialise in choreography, performance, movement direction and modelling. They create professional contemporary dance work alongside commercial work: music videos, advertising, fashion, music, events and festivals. MANA was founded in July 2019 by female performers and choreographers Colette Kite and Georgia Marshall.
STORY
MANA DANCE is a testament to female identity and strength, showcasing resilience and power as central themes in their work. Their choreography is described as 'physically charged and fearless,' characterised by an unapologetic demand for space and infused with an undeniable swagger. Their bold and visually captivating performances have earned them recognition, including South East Dance's 'Ones to Watch' in 2020, the South East Dance Fringe Award in 2021 and the Durham Fringe Directors Award in 2022. MANA has brought their professional talents to various venues across the UK.
MANA's distinctive style is a fusion of Contemporary dance influenced by a spectrum of street styles and community dance. Colette and Georgia received their professional training in Contemporary dance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance from 2017 to 2020. Their training extends to Street Styles (Hip Hop, House and Krump) as well as Ballet, Improvisation, Commercial and Latin infused dance.
In addition to their artistic pursuits, MANA has collaborated with a range of commercial entities, including SONY for advertisements, music videos for Future Bounce Agency Artists and Continentica Records. They have also participated in music festivals and events including MR BONGO record label, Liberty Music PR, and modelling work through artists agency House of Juba.
Furthermore, MANA have a prominent presence as artists, offering valuable dance education with a focus on empowerment and the use of movement as a tool for wellbeing.
